Although India does not allow dual citizenship, I am eligible for special recognition by the government of India because my parents were born in the nation state of India (after independence). With this recognition comes several benefits, like bypassing visa processes for each visit to India.

The makeup company L’Oreal received a lot of heat recently regarding possible photoshopping of the singer Beyonce (to give her lighter skin).
There are similar questions about Frieda Pinto, the Indian actress from Slumdog Millionaire.

In light of recent discussions on this and my other blog, I found an ad that appeared in last month’s Economist to be very timely:
